It has been said that no picture is perfect. If this is true, then no negative is perfect either, and there is always some way for the critical photographer to improve their work. One technique which can be helpful in making better prints is.... the Texture Screen! Texture Screens are hand made and not mass-produced. We are satisfied to make few and supply a select group of clients. Some of whom have used Texture Screens since the companies beginning over 50 years ago!

u r H i s t o r y
Texture Screens you use today were created by William Mortensen in the 1920's and 1930's. After many years of study and experimentation, William Mortensen perfected making Texture Screen prints. Texture Screen printing allows a photograph to take on the characteristic's of an etching, canvas, charcoal, pastel, or frseco! This process was used exclusively for Mr. Mortensen's works that have been exhibited in the principal exhibitions and galleries around the world. For many years the method and original patterns remained his own secret.
Stephen Gillette, one of Mortensen's remaining students purchased the business from Jacaue Delangre who purchased the business from William Mortensen's widow. We have continued to make vast improvements in the Texture Screens and they are easily used with modern day color or Black and White emulsions.
